I have kept free-range Pekin ducks on our neighborhood pond for 9 years. They get fed multiple times every day and I have to feed them in a controlled area and stand guard to keep the Canadian Geese from taking the food and running the ducks off. Numbering up to 100 at a time, the geese have been hanging around all summer and have been coming back year after year for a decade or more. I ordered the two Swans to see if they might help deter the geese. After having them anchored close together near my shoreline for five days, I can report that for a couple of days, there were no geese on our property at all although they were crowded in my next-door neighbor’s yard. On the third day of having the Swans, a few brave geese swam close to the Swans but didn’t stay long. On the 4th and 5th days, there were periods when I had close to a dozen geese pass through my yard as a group, but they did not stay very long. At least 90 percent of the time, there are no geese in my yard while the neighbors’ yards are crowded and I haven’t had to hold back the geese while feeding my Pekins since placing the Swans in the pond. I can already see a giant difference in the amount of goose poop in the yard and am liking what I’m seeing from the Swans so far.
