Description
Greenwater or single cell algae problems can be eradicated using T8 UV-C Germicidal Lamp Bi Pin bulbs. Germicidal UV- C Bulbs are short for Ultra Violet Clarifiers also known in the pond hobby as ultra violet sterilizers. There are three bands of ultra violet light classification A , B + C. The wavelength of the light dictates which classification it falls under.
UV lamps contain a very small amount of mercury which with the gas inside the lamp emit the bacteria killing light. Never look directly at a UV lamp when it is on as will damage your eyes. The effective life of a replacement T8 UV-C Germicidal Lamp Bi Pin lamp is approx 8000 hours, after this point it will seem to be working but in fact the effectiveness of the lamp will be decreasing and needs to be changed. Changing a bulb twice annually will usually be good enough to maintain the filter light unit.
We stock all types made with quartz glass material for effective transmission of the light wave. All bulbs are designed to be suitable as the original lamp bought with the pond UV Filter.
Spent UV bulbs should be disposed as with accordance with state and national laws and can not be placed directly into the domestic trash system due to the mercury element within the UV lamp.
